Tyler Perry does it again, bringing back his famous character Madea in his latest play turned film "I Can Do Bad All By Myself". The movie features Tyler Perry, obviously as Madea and Joe, Taraji Henson ( The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Smokin' Aces, Hustle and Flow) as April, a lonely bar singer, and rising star Adam Rodriguez ( A Kiss of Chaos, Caught in the Cross Fire) as Sandino. If your already a Tyler Perry fan this is a must see hit presenting all of the Tyler Perry qualities of church, family, music, and love.
From the beginning the movie will capture you with Taraji Henson's beautiful voice, as she opens in a night club. You soon discover that things are not always as beautiful as they seem, which is especially true in April's case. April portrays a lonely drunk without hope, family, or love. The film carries these themes with a strong musical cast of gospel singers Marvin Winans as Pastor Brian, and Gladys Knight as family friend Wilma. Both singers will touch your heart as they sing they pains of everyday life. But, they are not the only musical talent within the film. Tyler Perry also presents 10 time Grammy winner Mary J. Blige as Tanya, one of April's only true friends. Blige will blow away audiences with her amazing and inspirational performance of " I can do bad all by myself" which captures the heart and soul of the film.
Yes, Madea is back, this time without a gun and a smaller role, but with just as much force. Madea acts as a mentor to three orphan children who recently lost their Grandmother. The children attempt to break into Madeas home when she snatches them up and returns them to their Aunt April. Madea does all this with great comedy. Even the kids poke fun at Madea, answering to her with "Yes, Man" rather than "Yes Ma'am", as she attempts to straighten them up and teach them some manners. Madea brings a lighter side to a film which covers many heavy topics.
Tyler Perry also presents the fresh face of Adam Rodriguez as Sandino to his cast. Sandino represents the good man every woman searches for. He works as a handyman in Aprils house while she gives him a place to stay. Sandino also faced a rough childhood but overcomes through love, God, and family. He works to free April of her demons, allowing her to finally let love back into her life. Sandino and April make you feel the strong loving bond of the true love between them.
"I Can Do Bad All By Myself" displays a film which encourages the importance of family and giving back to the community.
